Week 1: Had an Egg-cellent 1st Week

Day 1: The much anticipated first week of HA 243: Foundations in Kitchen Operations finally came around the corner and I had never been so excited for a class to begin. The first day we met Chef Mark and our T.A. Nick and learned all about the requirements and essentials to succeed in this class. It was incredibly intimidating at first but hey those first day jitters were going to be over at 2:45PM and it's not like we're cooking. Well, next thing we know Chef has us working with our team to cook a hard-boiled egg. My biggest AHA moment was that the process was fairly easy and overall my group did a great job considering we've never hard-boiled an egg before.

Our hard-boiled egg after the process. Before our grand reveal! Our hard-boiled egg once we checked how we did! Not bad.

Day 2: The day of blogs, events and kitchen cleaning. Fun stuff. Learning about the criteria for our blogs was intensive but nothing we can't handle week to week. The events that we get to put on are going to be incredibly fun to be apart of! And the tours from Chef and Nick were very informative and I actually feel better about walking around the kitchen and not looking lost. My biggest AHA moment was to make sure that when it comes to preparation for events, stay on top of it! Nothing fun will come from being unprepared and lazy for our first event.
