Hi there! My name is Megan Kauffman and I am currently a sophomore at Northern Arizona University studying Hotel & Restaurant Management. Im a quirky and vivacious individual who enjoys a good cup of coffee and long talks about anything intriguing. Some of my professional aspirations in the hospitality industry are; to understand how hotels create a successful business and one day own an event planning company who's sole focus is making our customers feel satisfied.
Penne For Your Thoughts has been designed by me to allow a creative outlet for showcasing my development in HA 243 for this semester. This blog is going to help my career in the future because it will seriously set me aside from other candidates hungry for the same position as I am. Being able to show a future employer an interactive blog featuring some of my talents versus somebody handing over a list of accomplishments on a piece of paper is impressive and I plan to be that person who goes the extra mile.
I am investing in this blog because of the numerous benefits that it will provide me. Not only will I expanding my knowledge on basic kitchen fundamentals, I'll also have the opportunity to look back one day and see what I was able to accomplish in just a semester course. Learning how a professional kitchen is run is so vital to understanding the basics for any hospitality level. Seeing how teams work together in such a stressful environment and how everyone acts under pressure is important for anybody striving for a manager or higher level position. In my opinion, the kitchen is one of the most central reasons why either guests will either be satisfied or unsatisfied. So from learning how to behave in this kind of environment, it will help further my experiences as well as my personal success in this industry. Personally, I hope to just learn the basics of how to act in a kitchen, how to cook some simple (but delicious) dishes and how to be a professional. Let the cooking begin!
